There are some foods that really should be kept to a minimum once we are over 50 and here’s a list of them.

Did you know that sugar ages your appearance! Need I elaborate, but I will because I think we all do care about what we look like, essentially what happens is that sugar attaches itself to any ...

Authors who were over 50 before they were published

07 October 2016 | by Halcyon

We all love a success story. More often we hear of younger people who seem to become an overnight success. And good on them, because their journey was likely to be anything but overnight!

It’s always warming to hear the Cinderella stories about the writers who struggled for years to write and get published. There’s the well known trials and tribulations of Kathryn Stockett whose best seller, The Help (which was later turned into a great film) was rejected 61 times.

If fairytales are anything to go by the message is that writers should stick to their dreams, perseverance could quite possibly ...

Less is more, the benefits of downsizing to a new home

30 September 2016 | by Halcyon

Decisions, decisions… for most over 50’s, the topic of downsizing looms large when planning for the future. The multiple benefits of downsizing does provide a compelling list of reasons to reduce the hassles associated with living in a large home.

In earlier years a big house made sense, with lots of bedrooms, a large backyard and swimming pool so the kids could play and have heaps of extra room for entertaining friends and family. But as over 50’s reach the ‘empty nester’ phase and the kids have moved out, thoughts turn to downsizing, de-cluttering and the future.
