Halcyon Landing’s Leonie Grant discovered she was more than equal to a test of her physical and fundraising abilities when she undertook the Great Cycle Challenge Australia.

It all started when Leonie was scrolling through Facebook and up popped the challenge, which raises money for kids’ cancer research each October.

The facility, a safe haven to be based at an unpublicised location on the northern Gold Coast, was launched by the Hon Di Farmer, Minister for Child Safety, Youth and Women and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence on Wednesday 12th December.

Downsizing is different for everyone. For Halcyon Glades home owners Ian and Susan Snare, it was three massive garage sales, time living apart, and an epic 2,200km move to sub-tropical Brisbane from chilly Tasmania.

Their industrious and successful beekeeping has brought homemade honey to their neighbours’ doorsteps, much to the delight of Lakeside sweet tooths.

Every few months, the community’s home owners can get their hands on the pure raw bush honey produced by the thousands of bees in Kerrin and Helen’s hives.
