Buderim's newest and greenest luxury lifestyle community welcomes its first homeowners
Tucked away in a lush pocket of Buderim, Halcyon’s newest and greenest community B by Halcyon welcomed its first five homeowners today.
The foundation homeowners are all local Sunshine Coast residents and include Gary and Sue Hadenham from Mountain Creek, Irene Hurley from Noosa, and Ozzie and Jo Feiner, who sold their home at Halcyon Lakeside at Bli Bli.
Irene Hurley said the ongoing maintenance on her old home was the catalyst for making the move to the new community.
“I loved my home, but it was a big home on a big 1500 square metre block and it was just too much for me and I was living to keep the house up,” she said.
“I thought ‘never mind the house, let’s go and have some fun’.”
Irene said she was excited about starting her next chapter at B by Halcyon and was planning to get involved in the recreational and leisure activities on offer.
“I’m keen to get back into the gym and I’ve always had a pool, so I plan on swimming a lot,” she said. “I’m going to have a go at everything and then decide what I like best.”
The lucky homeowners were chauffeured through the gates of B by Halcyon in Tesla cars, delivering them to their new homes, which have an 8-star energy rating.
The homes come with 5kw solar panels and solar hot water as standard and are built with materials such as steel frames, Hebel panels, water-saving fixtures and insulation to assist with natural cooling and heating.
The luxury community is the first in Australia to have a Tesla car as its shared vehicle and its leisure and recreation centre will be powered by Tesla batteries.
B by Halcyon Project Director Chris Carley said the new community, Halcyon’s fourth on the Sunshine Coast, was the most environmentally sustainable in the company’s stable and was located in a blue-chip location.
“When it is completed, there will be around 4000 solar panels in the community which will reduce carbon emissions from the community by over 1000 tonnes per annum,” he said.
Mr Carley said the community has UDIA 6–leaf EnviroDevelopment Certification, which makes it easier for the homeowners and potential homeowners to recognise and select more environmentally sustainable developments and lifestyles for the next chapter of their lives.
“They can show their grandkids that they are doing their bit to saving the earth while also having the financial certainty of lower energy costs,” he said.
Mr Carley said B by Halcyon had been years in the making, having searched for the perfect piece of land before discovering the 60-acre parcel off Whites Road, nestled in the foothills of the iconic town.
“Buderim is arguably one of the most desirable suburbs on the Sunshine Coast as it has incredible natural attractions, a picturesque village and is located just a short drive from the region’s beautiful beaches and the new CBD ,” he said.
“Being Buderim’s only luxury lifestyle community, it offers a rare opportunity for over 50s to secure their own slice of paradise and to take advantage of the many leisure and recreational facilities living at Halcyon offers.”
Since B by Halcyon’s launch in February, 50 homes have been sold with many of the buyers coming from the local area.
“We’ve had the majority of interest come from a 15-20km radius of the project as the local community are well aware of Halcyon’s reputation, having won the UDIA’s national award for Best Seniors Living for Halcyon Landing and Halcyon Lakeside, both at Bli Bli,” he said.
“We have had a few recent sales from Sydney and Melbourne people who have been up here on extended holidays during the pandemic and have decided there is no better place than ‘B’.”
Work on the $200m project has been fast-tracked to meet pent-up demand, creating hundreds of jobs for local trades, suppliers and in-house Halcyon staff.
On completion, B by Halcyon will have around 300 homes and will feature 5-star health and wellness facilities including a 25-metre covered and heated magnesium salt pool with spa, outdoor resort pool, gymnasium and circuit room, yoga lawn, massage and therapy treatment rooms and beauty salon.
Also planned for the community is a Creative Arts Precinct which includes an art room, pottery workshop, music studio and work shed.
