Force of Nature by Jane Harper

Published by Macmillan Australia

The latest outing for Federal Police Agent Aaron Falk – introduced in Harper’s bestselling debut, The Dry – takes us to the fictional Giralang Ranges where five women are reluctant participants in a corporate team-building hike.

The tension mounts when only four emerge, bedraggled, at the end. Falk has a particular interest in the whereabouts of the missing bushwalker, a whistleblower in a money laundering case.

As the women gradually reveal what really happened, a picture emerges of deep-seated distrust, intimidation and violence.

In Force of Nature, Harper again ramps up the psychological tension as lives unravel and layers of civilised behaviour peel away.
