The spirit of Halcyon’s homeowners shone brightly with their generous donation of $15,000 to a host of wonderful charities during a recent Friends of Halcyon Referral Program event.

Nineteen charities benefited from the donations of a number of current homeowners and soon to be homeowners from Halcyon Greens at Pimpama on the Gold Coast.

Story Dogs, Prostate and Breast Cancer Research, Bella’s Sanctuary as well as local groups like the Pimpama Men’s Shed, Ormeau Rural Fire Service and Zonta Gold Coast-Tweed were all included in the diverse list of charities.

Altogether $15,000 was shared amongst the 19 charities at this event, with over $40,000 given to charities since July 2020 through the Friends of Halcyon Referral Program.

The Friends of Halcyon Referral Program allows new home buyers and the person who referred them to give $500 to the charity of their choice.

The Animal Welfare League Queensland, who provides services and care for abandoned animals, received $2,000 thanks to several Halcyon homeowners.

Animal Welfare League Queensland Fundraising Manager Emma Thompson said like many charities, COVID-19 had impacted their ability to raise much-needed funds this year.

“Today’s donation is even more welcome and will help shelter animals until we can find them a suitable and safe home,” she said.

“Unlike other animal charities, we have a zero euthanasia policy, so all animals that come into our care are looked after until a home can be found.”
