Halcyon Glades makes it safer and easier than ever for happy campers to hit the road
13 January 2020 | by Halcyon Glades
Spontaneous road trips and spur-of-the-moment holidays – Halcyon Glades is making the retirement dream a reality for its active and adventurous homeowners.
The premiere over-50s lifestyle community is capitalising on a nationwide boom in caravanning and outdoor holidays with a raft of initiatives and inclusions designed especially for motorhome and boat owners.
According to a Tourism Research Australia report, one in 13 Australian households owns a Recreational Vehicle (RV), spending a total of 54.5 million nights caravan and camping in the 12 months to March 2019.
Holidaymakers aged over 50 – the celebrated “grey nomads” – accounted for almost one-third of those nights.
Embracing this enthusiasm for the great outdoors and the wide open road, Halcyon Glades includes secure, onsite accommodation for 64 caravans, boats and motorhomes.
Conveniently located within the gated community, this storage area allows homeowners easy access to their vehicles while a secure lock system and round-the-clock CCTV cameras provides peace of mind and the perfect “lock and go” lifestyle.
Ticking off holiday checklists is made simple with water and power stations on site as well as a 48-hour parking period outside homes to take the burden out of packing and unpacking for each trip.
Halcyon Glades’ caravan storage space has been designed with asphalt surfaces and large turning circles to ensure every road trip gets off to a smooth start.
Joint Managing Director Dr Bevan Geissmann said Halcyon Glades’ caravanning convenience extended beyond its handy on-site storage.
“Halcyon Glades’ five-star community is located at Caboolture and perfectly positioned at the gateway for Queensland travel,” Dr Geissmann said.
“We are only 15 minutes from the closest boat ramp which provides access to Pumicestone Passage and Moreton Bay and, at last count, there were more than 10 free campsites and four free dump sites within a two-hour drive in any direction, making weekend getaways and mini-breaks easy and affordable.”
Halcyon Glades homeowners David and Pam Slight have been avid caravanners since their former neighbours introduced them to the pastime in 2000.
They moved into the Caboolture lifestyle community in September 2018, having spent the 12 months prior travelling across Australia in their caravan.
“We were drawn to Halcyon Glades mostly for the friendliness of the community but the caravan facilities were also a real drawcard,” Mr Slight said.
“We like to get away regularly – Cotton Tree near Maroochydore is a great little spot and probably the one we visit most – and it’s very easy to pick the caravan up from the storage area, park it out the front, load it up and away we go.
“We’re hoping to go away next year for close to 12 months so another reason we liked Halcyon Glades is because it’s very safe and secure.
“We have fantastic neighbours who look out for us, it’s a very secure community and we can safely lock up and leave.”
