Imagine living in a community with no renters: do you believe it would be different?

Ever wondered what it would be like to actual ‘know’ your neighbours and live in a secure like minded community where there are no bins left out all week and the lawn isn’t overgrown?

Well it’s not surprising to learn that more and more older Australians are choosing to live in gated over 50’s communities. Here are some of the benefits that come with living in an over 50’s community.

Security:
Arguably the number one reason people choose to live in a gated community is likely to be the security element. Because a gated community is private, it is more difficult to access than a standard community or traditional neighbourhood home.

Most gated communities now have CCTV camera surveillance so criminal activity is reduced and pesky door-to-door sales representatives will find it near impossible to bother home owners.

With the advent of the modern day ‘grey nomad’, caravan and boat storage is offered in most over 50’s communities. For many people this represents an ideal semi-retirement/retirement lifestyle option. The convenience of having somewhere to store the caravan close by and the freedom to spend up to six months on the road on an adventure, secure in the knowledge that everything is just fine back at home is quite appealing.

Friendly neighbours, familiar faces:
A gated over 50’s community is exactly that, a community in the true sense of the word, a place where like-minded people of a similar age who share the same values and headspace, live.

Close neighbours and friends are more than willing to collect the mail, take out the rubbish and generally keep an eye on things while you are away. In these types of communities friendly faces are everywhere; in your street and just around the corner- it’s a place where everyone knows your name.

Lifestyle:
If you're physically active or like to entertain guests, life in a gated community might be the perfect choice for you. Many modern over 50’s communities now include the kind of facilities and amenities that you would expect to find in a luxury resort.

This often includes an exclusive Clubhouse for the use of home owners and their family and friends, purpose designed as the heart of the community where the home owners come together to celebrate, relax, get fit and socialise.

Sporting activities usually include things like tennis, gym work, lawn bowls and swimming in the community swimming pool just to name a few. For many it’s also an opportunity to join one of the multitudes of special interest groups formed by the home owners. From arts and craft to Zumba and everything in between there’s a interest group to suit any passion - or a chance to try something new and interesting!

Traffic Free:
Traffic noise and speeding cars are also reduced behind the gates, making it quieter and safer for home owners to ride bicycles and walk the streets within these communities.

Upkeep and maintenance:
Research has shown that home owners who live within a gated community generally have a higher pride of ownership and are likely to keep their homes in better condition.

Amenities including the Clubhouse, sporting facilities and common areas are maintained to high standards by the community management team. Along with that, gated communities create a scarcity effect, with few homes typically available for sale at the same time, adding more bite to the value.
