Life begins at Halcyon

Pumicestone Marketplace adds to Caboolture’s exceptional growth

20 February 2019 | by Halcyon Glades

Caboolture has welcomed the first major phase of it’s $1 billion in public and private infrastructure investment with the official opening of Pumicestone Marketplace. The 4,500 sqm neighbourhood shopping centre launched a Drakes supermarket on 29 January, with a Stellarossa coffee shop, bakery, bottle shop, pharmacy, medical practice, and several more speciality shops to open over the following weeks.

Pumicestone Maketplace comes as Caboolture welcomes new infrastructure initiatives that are improving transport connectivity, boosting vital services and enhancing lifestyle amenities in a region ‘where the country meets the city’. Halcyon joint managing director Dr Bevan Geissmann said the north Caboolture region was undergoing a “golden era”.

“In a nod to the area’s ongoing growth, Halcyon Glades continues to expand and has recently launched its final stage of homes, bringing even more new faces and friends to this vibrant and beautiful part of South East Queensland.” “Pumicestone Marketplace is a fantastic value-add for our home owners, who can enjoy a walk across the road to pick up groceries or meet friends for coffee” Dr Geissmann said.

Samford couple Peter and Penny Costello have traded their acreage property of 20 years for a slice of life at Halcyon Glades. The couple had reservations regarding the area until witnessing the calibre of community facilities and infrastructure already in place and being rolled out across Caboolture, including Pumicestone Marketplace.

“Once we started to look around Caboolture, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety of community facilities on offer including dog parks, walking trails and boat ramps,” Peter said.
The move has kept the couple close to their elderly mothers, two daughters and their five grandchildren, who all live on Brisbane’s outer northside.

Penny is also making the most of the new dog park, which is part of the community’s expansions of its leisure offering. “The new dog park is the perfect place to exercise our energetic two-year-old Golden Retriever-cross-Poodle, Toby, and to meet other home owners,” Penny said.

The couple have become very involved at Halcyon, with Peter on the home owner committee and Penny in the knitting group, which makes items for charity. “Peter volunteers behind the bar at the Recreational Club for Happy Hour and I’ve tried out lawn bowls and attend Pilates classes, we both really love it here,” she said.

Pumicestone Marketplace will be hosting a Family Fun Day on 23 February to celebrate the launch of the centre.
