Preserving local jobs
Halcyon has been in the local news, gaining attention for preserving hundreds of local jobs during COVID-19 as it continues to build its latest community B by Halcyon at Buderim.
WIN News Sunshine Coast, Buderim Chronicle and the Sunshine Coast Daily visited the site to interview Project Director Chris Carley as the community's facilities, roads and homes begin to take shape.
"We've been building since the middle of March, we've already got over eight homes built and we've got over a 100 people actively employed working on this project."
Halcyon’s Joint Managing Director Dr Bevan Geissmann said despite the current economic climate and uncertainty surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the company was committed to continuing essential and much needed construction work at new communities B by Halcyon and Halcyon Rise at Logan, as well as Stage 4 at Halcyon Greens in Pimpama.
“We know that the economy has suffered as a result of Australia’s excellent efforts to slow the spread of the virus,” he said.
“Halcyon is focused on continuing to build quality homes for South East Queensland and in turn ensure we help rebuild Australia‘s economy by preserving the livelihoods of hundreds of contractors, hundreds of suppliers and our own staff,” he said.
Dr Geissmann said the company took a measured approach during COVID-19, while adhering to all COVID-19 safety measures and restrictions around construction."
“As a company we believe we have a responsibility to keep Australians working during these difficult times and we will continue to make measured and sensible decisions in regard to this,” he said.
