Tears of joy flow at B by Halcyon Thank You Event

Giving Back
September 04, 2020

A combination of laughter, friendship, adorable puppies and tears of joy were shared between a remarkable group of people gathered on a sparkling Spring day on the Sunshine Coast.

Halcyon’s newest community B by Halcyon at Buderim hosted their first Friends of Halcyon Referral Program and invited a number of charities who have benefited from the program.

Shanna Waugh from the Noosa branch of the RSPCA shed happy tears as she received $1,000 from two Friends of Halcyon Referral Program donors.

She introduced two rescue dogs and shared how this donation would directly help in providing rehoming and care services for abandoned animals.

The RSPCA were among seven charities that received a total of $7,000 in donations from the Friends of Halcyon Referral Program yesterday. The other charities included:

  • Parkinson’s Queensland
  • Bloomhill Cancer Care
  • Oz Harvest
  • Katie Rose Cottage Hospice
  • Maroochy Men’s Shed
  • DV Connect - Bella’s Sanctuary

The Friends of Halcyon Referral Program enables participants to nominate a charity of their choice to receive a donation of $500.

B by Halcyon Project Director Chris Carley said Halcyon’s homeowners had a long history of giving back to the local community.

“The Friends of Halcyon Referral Program allows Halcyon and our homeowners to have a deeper connection with the wider community, especially in times where fundraising for charities has been extremely difficult, and when their services are needed more than ever,” he said.

“Today’s Friends of Halcyon Thank You Event is a small way of giving back to grassroot community organisations and their people that make our community a better  place to live."

New B by Halcyon homeowners Iris and Tony added to the goodwill by reducing their own referral payment and increasing the amount of their donation to Katie Rose Cottage Hospice to $1,000.

Halcyon has a proud 16 year history of community give back with over $1.5 million provided during this time.
