When good neighbours become good friends
It’s always been very easy for home owners at our lifestyle communities to become friends, given that most people living here have similar interests or develop similar interest as a result of living where they live, but now we are seeing it go one step further with groups of friends making the move together.
It does make sense, friends often experience life shifts at roughly the same time, kids leaving home, working shifts from working 70 hours a week to a more sane level, grand kids come along, travelling, a desire to be able to leave whenever you want and the list goes on.
Good neighbours that are good friends are beneficial in so many ways; here’s a list of just a few reasons:
It can be far more peaceful to live among neighbours that like and respect each other, especially when they’re living in close proximity. Respectful neighbours are more likely to give you space when you need it, not be loud and rowdy, which makes overall daily life less stressful.
There’s the old cliché about neighbours and a borrowed cup of sugar. It really is convenient to have someone close by who can help you out when you need to finish baking that cake.
Community living means you can join forces to build connections in the neighbourhood. Plant a veggie garden, coordinate veggie types that compliment each other, start a sporting competition within the community.
Socialising made easy
Neighbourhood get-togethers can be a lot of fun and super convenient since everyone lives close by.
Lock and go
Good neighbours can be especially helpful when you are away from home. At a Halcyon community, while you’re away things like maintenance and mail collection is handled by the community management team. But if you own a pooch, your lovely neighbours will come in handy.
Many neighbours enjoy helping each other out and are happy to pick up some groceries, stop at the post office, or pick up your dry cleaning while they are on their own errand runs.
Or if you’re ever laid up due to injury or an illness, a kind next-door neighbour can be a great source of help during your recovery. They are close by for assistance when you need it most.
Have a Wilson moment…
Some people thrive on over-the-fence conversations each day. Having someone close by to socialise with can create wonderful friendships that may not have otherwise happened. Neighbours can also be a source of good advice and are conveniently located when you need some guidance.
Here’s to living among friends and enjoying the finer things in life with others.
